OGC President's Message November 2019
Hello Fellow Gardeners!
What a beautiful start to the month as November has come in all frosty and sunny! I love the many vibrant shades of red, orange, and gold as the leaves progress through the season. I hope you are all out getting your beds ready for winter for it is only a few weeks away!
Our next meeting is a week early, November 21st, because of Thanksgiving so mark your calendars now because you won't want to miss our design team showing us Thanksgiving table designs that we can make at home. A super meeting is planned and I look forward to seeing you then!
Merrie Makings is coming up soon! Call Joan Boone (360-352-4803) and get your orders in immediately for our fragrant fresh wreaths ($15 and $25) and centerpieces ($12) so that yours will be reserved for you. Then join in the party, no experience needed, (we'll show you how its done!), to create those wonderful centerpieces and mugs. There will be Christmas carols to hum or sing along with and crock pots full of soups for lunch. Bring a delicious sweet treat to share, to have with coffee or tea whenever you want to take a break. It is so much fun! Monday, November 25th 9AM-4PM and Tuesday, November 26th 9AM-12PM at Gull Harbor Lutheran Church... Come for all or come for some, and come for the fun! You will leave filled with holiday cheer!
We are still receiving compliments on the very informative program last month regarding flower show entries. We learned how to select, shore up, and exhibit horticulture and got many fine tips on entering designs. Over and over I heard the words, "The Flower Show Schedule contains the 'rules' for this show. Read it carefully!" and "If you have questions call the Consultant ahead of time and ask. We're all here to help you." The next flower show will be at our Spring Black Hills District meeting on April 10, 2020. The Flower Show Schedule will be attached to our Garden Gate so be looking for it! Since it will be a Horticulture only (no designs) show, we will all have lots of specimens in our yards to enter. Don't be shy, just do it! Many thanks JoAnne and Gail G for such a super presentation!
The Ghost Flowers made at our last meeting were awesome and will be such fun yard art!! Thank you Marlene and Debbie for the great prep work and instructiion. It was enjoyed by all!
As we approach the fall and winter holidays I hope you are all watching for the icy spots on the sidewalks , streets, and in our lives so that you can tread carefully and enjoy them fully!
