OGC President's Message January 2020

Greetings Gardeners!

The longer days are making me excited about getting out in the garden again! I am seeing the bulbs peeking out of the ground and am anticipating seeing the early spring flowers. Now is the time to think about those pesky slugs and I have found that egg shells are a good deterrent! I zap them in the microwave in a plastic produce bag and while still in the bag, I crush them up into small pieces. When sprinkled around your flowers the slugs stay away because they don't like those sharp little pieces poking them. Win/win! As I am out driving around the neighborhood I am on the lookout for blooming shrubs, especially those beautiful camellias. If you have one blooming in your yard, let me know at our next meeting. I'm curious about what colors you have!

When we meet on January 30th your awesome leadership team is providing lunch: Nice hot soups, rolls, and dessert! Please be sure to thank them for their extra special lunch! See you soon!
